Rule 1: 1. The article is always written the same
Whatever follows it, the article is spelt ا + ل joined to the word. Its alif carries hamzat al-waṣl, silent inside a sentence. The only things that change are the marks: before a moon letter the ل has a sukūn; before a sun letter the ل has no mark and the next letter has a shadda. Everything you learned in lessons 23 to 28 about the article, definiteness and agreement is unchanged.
